All Purpose Tahini Lemon Sauce
Tahini is a paste of ground sesame seeds with a consistency similar to peanut butter and a taste that is more savory than sweet. It’s a superfood in my book since it’s a great source of plant-based protein, healthy fat and minerals like calcium. The antioxidants in tahini include sesamin may have an anti-inflammatory effect. I drizzle tahini on cooked veggies, use it to make homemade hummus or to make this sauce that can be used on everything from Buddha Bowls to sandwiches.
Ingredients
1/3 cup organic tahini
2 T fresh lemon juice (about 2 lemons)
1/3 cup water ( or more depending on consistency you like)
1/2 tsp sea salt
1/2 tsp garlic powder, optional
2 tsp maple syrup, optional (Grade A or B in glass bottle, not the supermarket brands)
Directions:
Mix all ingredients in a small bowl and whisk with a fork. Add additional water one tablespoon at a time if sauce is too thick until you reach the desired consistency. This generally makes enough sauce for two bowls or one batch of steamed veggies.
