Self-Care Saturday
Figuring out ways to prioritize your health is more important now than ever before given the stressful times we’re living in. Taking actions that support your physical, emotional, and mental health is the kind of self-care we all need, but if you have CF, it is even more important.
But how do you fit it into a busy life filled with treatments, meds, and all of the other responsibilities you are juggling? Well, it has to be scheduled like any other appointment, or you know it’s just not gonna happen! Here are some things you might consider scheduling in this week to support the healthiest version of you:
Get Outside- Being outdoors (especially now before it gets too cold) and spending time in nature has been shown to reduce stress hormones and blood pressure, so take a walk or hike, go to a local park or walk around the farmer’s market to clear your head and reduce your stress.
Journaling- Writing out your thoughts in a daily journal is a great way to help you process your concerns, problems or fears and reduce some of your stress around them. Once they are on paper, they may not look or feel so bad. Plus, journaling can help you recognize things that are triggering stress in your life. So, find a quiet spot and start writing- you deserve that time to yourself
Take a Nap- Napping isn’t just for the little ones. Studies show that a short midday nap can boost memory, uplift your mood, reduce your stress and make you feel more alert. So many people with (and without) CF are suffering from lack of sleep, but the benefits to your mind and body are well-known. So, set a timer for 20 or 30 minutes and schedule that time for you!
Schedule some “YOU” time this week.
